What it is

Bread Pay is Bread Financial Holdings, Inc.’s (NYSE: BFH) point-of-sale consumer financing program for merchants. Current merchant pages call it Business Payment Solutions and Pay Over Time Solutions for Businesses. The canonical merchant URL is www.breadpayments.com. The same Business Payment Solutions surface also lives at www.breadfinancial.com/en/business-solutions.html. The dedicated Bread Pay merchant product page is Pay Over Time Solutions for Businesses. The consumer homepage at www.breadfinancial.com is a D2C cards, savings, and Pay Over Time shopper surface. It is not the merchant product URL.

Merchant pages: white-label financing and credit card products implemented individually or mixed and matched. Pay Over Time is Installments (flexible payments online or in-store) and Bread Pay SplitPay (short-term financing). Pay Over Time business page: Bread Pay is an intuitive, omni-channel Pay Over Time lending platform; Installments as a gray-label payment solution with in-house bank underwriting and a decision in a few seconds; SplitPay as four equal, interest-free payments over six weeks, merchant paid upfront, Bread takes the risk, launch in six weeks or less. 10-K: Bread Pay is the payment technology solution for pay-over-time products, including installment loan and split-pay offerings, an omnichannel solution for more than 1,400 SMB retailers and merchants, with APIs so merchants and partners integrate online point-of-sale financing.

Help Center: Bread Pay was launched in 2014 and is today a product of Comenity Capital Bank, a Bread Financial company. Alliance Data completed the acquisition of Lon Inc., operating under the trademark Bread, on December 4, 2020. Alliance Data rebranded as Bread Financial on March 23, 2022 and unified prior market-facing brands, including Bread Payments, under Bread Financial. Bread Payments is not a separate live company on current pages. The merchant domain breadpayments.com still serves the Business Payment Solutions site.

This page is Bread Pay POS installment for merchants: a retailer or software platform enrolls, the consumer applies at checkout, Comenity Capital Bank originates an installment loan or SplitPay, and the merchant is paid after the sale. Private label and co-brand cards sold on the same Business Solutions page, Bread Savings, Bread Cashback and Bread Rewards cards, and Bread Loans personal or debt-consolidation lending are Bread Financial’s. They are not this page.

After enrollment, merchants use the Bread Pay Merchant Portal (production at merchants.platform.breadpayments.com, preview at merchants-preview.platform.breadpayments.com) for keys, settlements, and order management.

It is a fit for a US merchant or checkout software company that wants Comenity Capital Bank to originate consumer installment credit at the point of sale, will complete a sales conversation, and does not want to hold the loan.

Honest verdict

Bread Pay is the listing to read when the job is offering Comenity Capital Bank consumer installment loans and split-pay at a US merchant’s point of sale, including eCommerce plugins and a published SDK and REST API path for software platforms. Private label and co-brand cards, Bread Savings, D2C cards, and Bread Loans personal lending are Bread Financial’s. They are not this page.

What it is not: a self-serve live start with no sales conversation, a published merchant fee schedule, or a deposit or checking product. Contact an expert is the intake. Comenity Capital Bank originates. Merchant discount fees exist on 10-K and merchant Help. The dollar schedule is not public. Public loan-balance, account, partner-count, and company-age figures disagree across the 10-K, Business Solutions, and paid-media copy. If you will not complete a merchant or partner conversation, stop. If the job is bank-originated checkout installment credit for a US retailer or POS software platform, start here.
